Design Process

Each commission reflects the client’s ideas, aspirations, and way of living, developed through close collaboration between designers and artisans.

From first sketches to final finish, the process is a shared journey of thought and craft, where ideas are tested, refined and resolved into an object that is both functional and deeply personal.

Share
your vision

Our journey begins with a conversation. We take time to understand your vision, your space, the people shaping it, and your story. Together, we build a shared direction for what is to be made, shaped by your aspirations, lifestyle, and practical needs, and grounded in the realities of time and process.

02

CONCEPTS CREATED
WITH APPLIED IMAGINATION

In this initial phase of design, we present hand sketches and selected material samples to define the form and function of the piece and begin shaping how it will be experienced in use. This stage is grounded in inspiration, research and analysis, alongside a close understanding of your needs, both practical and emotional. It is where ideas are tested, clarified, and given direction.

A compelling concept should be clear and memorable. It should challenge assumptions, spark curiosity, and set a direction that feels both considered and inevitable.

The concept becomes the DNA of the project. With your feedback, it guides our designers and artisans through material exploration, detailed development, and the making and finishing of the final piece.

Material
discovery

Material discovery sits at the centre of our process. We are drawn to materials that inspire us, whether newly developed or found again through reuse and time. Each one is studied for what it is and what it might become through careful design and making.

Our library of samples is a record of long-term exploration. It is less a catalogue of outcomes and more a working archive of material exploration. Everything begins with material. The work is about revealing inherent qualities through careful making, not adding effect for its own sake.

FOCUSED
HAND MADE FURNITURE

Traditional craftsmanship guides our work in the workshop. Centuries-old hand skills remain central to how we make, supported by more contemporary tools and processes where they add precision and clarity.

We see innovation as a practical tool, not an aesthetic layer. It helps us refine how things are made, improve performance, and work more thoughtfully with material.

The aim is furniture that is resolved through both hand and process, considered in detail, where longevity and function carry as much weight as appearance.

05

The Workshop experience

Our clients visit our workshop in South Wales to see how ideas are made real by our designers and artisans. Visitors are invited to see the work as it happens, understand the techniques and rationale behind it, meet the creative minds behind it, and see how each piece is developed.

06

VISION
MADE REAL

Our journey concludes with the furniture being delivered to its new home. On arrival, installation is carried out through our white-glove service, ensuring every detail is correctly placed and understood. We also advise on care and maintenance.

Let’s make your vision real and ready to be lived with.
