Designer & Founder

Chad Punchard

With a love for Japanese architecture and Scandinavian furniture design, Chad approaches his projects with wood being the primary material. Conscious about our planet and doing his bit to look after the world we live in, he looks at using sawmills that use wood from naturally fallen trees, whether it be a storm or natural disaster that has caused the tree to fall.

By reusing naturally fallen trees, it’s also giving a second purpose of life to this once living organism. Each tree and plank has its own natural characteristics and story to tell, which will be displayed in the natural defects (splits/cracks and knots), wood grains, and patterns. This will all get celebrated and incorporated into the design of the furniture – Wabi-sabi (Wikipedia)

Whilst it’s hard to trace every single plank of wood used in his furniture back to its origins, you will often see him climbing the racks at timber yards searching for the right pieces for you’re furniture, a true bespoke package.

Buy once, for life. His furniture is made to last, built using traditional joinery methods with modern ideas and expression. I often let the material show me what it wants to be.

Experimental time in the studio

Chad often has periods in the studio to experiment with different textures, patterns, materials, and methods. Blending all of these disciplines into his works can lead to a truly unique outcome. You just have to be as crazy and open-minded as Chad to give him license to craft.
